Osaka Chinese school



In 1946, Kansai Chinese Kokubun School was set up by Chinese Japanese from the province of Jiangsu and Shandong mostly. it changed name to Osaka Chinese school in September, 1946. At that time, it contained only primary department. the Junior Department and the kindergarten were founded respectively in 1948 and 1967. Now, there are totally 157 children with 15 in the kindergarten, 94 in the Primary Department and 48in the Junior Department.(at present of Dec., 2001)

The school not only carries on the traditional Chinese culture and teach the language of Chinese, but also devote itself to fundermental education that are essential for overseas Chinese children to go to higher school and obtain employment in Japan. from the kindergarten, the language of Chinese, Japanese and English were all taught, even in preschool education. in the Primary Department and the Junior Department, more attention was paid to Chinese culture and the subjucts required for entering senior school. textbooks of Taiwan were used in the Primary Department and textbooks of Japan were used in the Junior Department. By now, all the graduates have been accepted by the senior school their choice satisfactorily. 67 students hold Japanese nationality, 7 students and 5 teachers are genetically totally Japanese and one teacher is from Australia.
